What is a Delta?

Deltas are distinctive landforms found at the mouths of rivers, where these rivers flow into oceans, seas, lakes, or other bodies of water. Deltas are shaped by the accumulation of sediment carried by the river over time.

Types of Delta?

1. Bird's-Foot Delta: This type of delta is characterized by multiple distributaries that fan out into the receiving body of water, resembling the toes of a bird's foot.
2. Arcuate Delta: An arcuate delta has a curved or crescent-shaped outline, with its concave side facing the open water.
3. Estuarine Delta: Estuarine deltas are located in coastal regions with significant tidal influence. They experience the mixing of freshwater from the river with saltwater from the sea, resulting in a brackish environment.
