Isothermal Layers of the Atmosphere

Question

Name any two isothermal layers of the atmosphere.

Answer

- Troposphere
The troposphere is the lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere, extending from the Earth's surface up to an average height of about 7 to 17 kilometers (4 to 11 miles) depending on the region and latitude. It is the layer where weather phenomena occur and where most of the Earth's atmospheric mass is concentrated.
- Stratosphere
The stratosphere is the atmospheric layer above the troposphere, characterized by a temperature increase with altitude and containing the ozone layer, which absorbs harmful ultraviolet radiation from the Sun.
- Mesopause
The mesopause is the boundary between the mesosphere and the thermosphere in the Earth's atmosphere, where the temperature reaches its lowest point, typically around -90 degrees Celsius (-130 degrees Fahrenheit).
